John Edmonds founded a Cabinetmaker's business here at Buscott Farm over 20 years ago. The yard filled with interesting timber and over the years many people have been employed and many wonderful things have been created.
A replica tudor ceiling has been exported to Chicago and an enormous range of bespoke furniture has been made for clients locally, nationally and internationally. The projects have been vast and various: from grand medieval panelled banqueting halls and complicated staircases to rustic wicker woven beds and reclaimed scaffold board tables.
In September 2004 John died of Multiple Myeloma. At that point I had to decide whether to draw a line under the business or not. Over the last few years John and I had created a beautiful family home here at Buscott: every elm beam reminded me of his love and strength and it was difficult to contemplate leaving.
There was fantastic support from the guys and a desire to continue so under Gabriel Peachey's management we carry on. We are just finishing the refurbishment of the Mulberry Factory Shop in Shepton Mallet and have just hung a beautiful pair of gates designed by Michael Eavis and made by Jake and Nick for the tythe barn in Pilton in time for Michael's 70th birthday celebrations. To mark the first anniversary of John's death we re-launched Edmonds Cabinet Makers at the end of September and paid tribute to the past and raised a glass to future projects.
Please contact us if you think we can help you with a project.
